India's growing focus on AI for precision medicine

In India, the Apollo Cancer Centre in Bengaluru has opened a Precision Oncology Centre powered by AI, providing personalized care using AI automation for patient eligibility, treatment recommendations, and monitoring. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) has collaborated with Siemens Healthineers to establish a lab focusing on AI in Precision Medicine, aiming to develop tools for automatically analyzing brain scans to diagnose neurological diseases. Drs Vijay Agarwal and Vishwanath S from the Apollo Cancer Centre discussed AI applications in precision oncology, while Assistant Professor Vaanathi Sundaresan from IISc addressed the importance of securing patient data in their AI-based research on neurological diseases.
