Japanese market: Japanese demand for digital hospital tech starting to pick up

Japanese hospitals, traditionally slow to adopt digital health solutions, are expected to embrace more technologies in the coming years, with increased budget availability. L.E.K. Consulting's survey of 50 hospital directors revealed that, aside from pandemic preparedness and staff safety, top priorities include investing in new IT infrastructure and providing clinicians access to advanced medical technologies. Private hospitals, particularly those with IT capabilities, lead in implementing digital health solutions, emphasizing their contribution to efficient patient data management. Concerns about patient privacy, data leaks, administrative load, and a shortage of talent hinder widespread adoption. Japan aims to boost EMR adoption, with a focus on standardization and government support for medical institutions. Positive financial outlooks for both public and private hospitals contribute to this trend.
