A study published in Current Biology suggests that constant exposure to light has negative health consequences, as demonstrated in mice exposed to continuous light for 24 weeks. The mice experienced immune system activation, muscle loss, and early signs of osteoporosis, resembling age-related frailty. However, the researchers found that these negative effects were reversible when the mice returned to a standard light-dark cycle. The study emphasizes the importance of considering light exposure, especially for aging individuals, given that 75 percent of the world's population is exposed to light at night.
